Well if this helps someone, I did make my own unlocking cable back in 2007 when the Dejan's BB5 unlocker was out.
As the unlocker uses the COM port, it was easier to use a serial data transfer cable used for older mobiles (or simply an FBUS cable for that matter), along with the USB DKU-5 cable. Found it simpler as I didn't want to have to damage my USB cable and still use it for usual data transfer...

Just connect the RX and TX pins of the serial cable to the Data+ and Data- pins of the DKU-5 and you've got your BB5 unlocking cable. Of course, the config file(bb5_unlocker.cfg) should contain the COM port you are using for this operation - like this if you are using COM 1: "COM1:" without quotes.

Basically, most of the FBUS cables around, use a MAX232A (RS-232 Level Converter)and and its pins 9 & 10 can be connected to a female USB connector which in turn can be safely connected to the DKU-5, without having to damage it.

the com port is set to 12 so I changed the file in notepad and saved but it won't work.

i just wanted to add an information, sometimes, for the dku-5, ca-42 cables to work with dejan's unlocker, you have to install prolific PL-2303 usb-serial driver.
I tried unlocking before i've installed the driver and always failed, after installation it always worked like a charm.

*6280/6288 are bb5 mobiles, but only the early versions work with dku-5, on newer version you only get sp data corruption (always backup even if you just want to try your luck) for dku-2, ca-53 to work you have to get your hands on an usb-serial converter, and use the usb cable on the serial port with the adaptor(board or cable)this is still untested by me, im in process of making my own converter.

I see it's in the list but i live very far from a city so i will have to make a cable myself. Wat i want to do is to cut my standard AC-53 in half and modify it so it will work the same as the DKU-5 and i will make the board myself, but in the schematics they show the connector numbers from the female usb but in the nokia connector they don't say witch wire connects to wire Ie. in the female usb thy use 2,3,4.But in the nokia thy only say 5,6,7.Now i need to know where on the nokia connector does no 2 go and no 3 go and no4 go. Nokia 5200 does not use DKU 5 cable. 

or for that matter CA 42 cable. It uses the standard mini usb data cable. So, would this method on top work on Nokia 5200 or not, is what I would like to know. Thanks.
