Thanks to Nokia Connects, I finally have my hands on Nokia’s first Windows Phone device - the Lumia 800.

After being absent for a week from UOM, the first thing that I did today was test the UOM Wi-Fi given that my account has been activated. See the previous post for the terms, FAQ & instructions.

The first thing I did was connect to the network Wifiprovisioning, the security key being uomwifi01. Try to browse any web page and you’ll be asked to provide a username and password.

It’s been nearly 4 years since there has been no Wi-Fi hotspots at the prestigious world-class University of Mauritius. & since last year, the CITS have been busy deploying that network. Time to test it.

So, connecting to the Wi-Fi network at UOM, how hard can it be?

The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology have recently made public the National Broadband Policy 2012-2020, which is described as follows:

The National Broadband Policy 2012 – 2020 (NBP2012) sets out a strategic vision for a broadband Intelligent Mauritius, branded as “Towards i-Mauritius”, and establishes national goals regarding broadband while elaborating specific policies to achieve those goals within the overarching National ICT Strategic Plan (NICTSP) 2011-2014 context.

The Nokia E7 runs on Symbian^3, the same OS as the N8. At the time I had it, the Anna update hadn't been released. So naturally, you would expect it to behave exactly as the N8.
