Porsche Mauritius
ABC Motors have officially launched their exclusive dealership with Porsche... by importing 5 new Beetles!
(Beetles? That's what Jeremy Clarkson calls them... Probably because it was Ferdinand Porsche who designed the Beetle for Adolf Hitler...)

Porsche Mauritius
The Porsche Boxster, Cayman, Carrera S, Carrera 4, Cayenne & Cayenne S were presented to the public at the Swami Vivekananda Conference Centre in the presence of the President & the PM (himself a big car enthusiast, owning an Aston Martin DB9).

Porsche Mauritius
Unsurprisingly, all 5 Beetles have already been sold... But ABC Motors are expecting major orders in August & September. & they've already decided to build a Porsche Showroom by late 2009, just in time for the Porsche Panamera (a luxury sedan).

Porsche

Mauritius is a rich country with rich people & so there's bound to be a demand for luxury brands. Porsche coming to Mauritius is a direct consequence of our country’s new breed of “super-rich.”
However, even if ABC Motors have imported only the medium range line-up, it's still very expensive (blame it on the prohibitive taxes). The Carrera 911 Turbo (Rs. 14.2M - not here yet) is more expensive than the Aston Martin DB9 (Rs. 12M), with the DB9 having a greater performance...

So it will take time before you can see the REAL Porsche supercars - the 911 GT2 RS, the GT3, the GT3 RS & the 911 Turbo....
& to be honest, Porsches are ubiquitous in Europe (just like with BMWs in Mauritius). Beetles are no longer as exclusive as a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. They are the poor man's cheap supercar...

What next?
Porsche is already here... With Ferrari secretly developing a low-priced roadster (codenamed F149 GT), it's quite possible that we may have a Ferrari dealership next...
ABC Motors should also seriously consider bringing the highly acclaimed Nissan GT-R...
& Bentley?
Lexus?
Infiniti?
Hummer?
:P
Unfortunately, there's absolutely no chance of seeing a Lamborghini or a Bugatti here...

Edit:

Le Matinal have published more Porsche photos in their Wheels supplement.
Here's the PDF - LINK

Edit2:
Blame it on the papers to be wrong (as usual)… According to the images, there are 6 Porsches!!!

Those cars cost 7x more than in the United States.
In here the Boxter cost about RS 1.5 million.
In mauritius, they cost close to RS 5 million

The best car in Mauritius right now is the the White Nissan GTR, without taking anything from the 911s.And for cheaper price also.

Porsche are not ubiquitous in Europe but BMW are.The best car and fastest car in Mauritius right now is the white Nissan GTR R35 (Baby Veyron) which can be seen in the region of Beau-Bassin since late 2008.The problem is with the fuel pump who offer low octane fuel. With cars that burn a gallon of fuel in 4 miles having lambo's in Mauritius will be a pain let alone more powerful cars.Just ask the Ferrari owners .(F430 red ,etc)
Do your homework before writing in news article!

gtr is no way a baby veyron...thats just pure bullshit!the beetle as mentioned is yeah maybe slower but it does have the looks and a great sound!and in Mauritius u cannot exploit these at their maX!
i did a 278km/hr and could go further but there are junctions....u have a super car!?great but whats the point in mauritius!!?

You  own a GTR? 957? Frankly speaking, I know only one GTR in Mauritius, 957. Second one should be for Mr. Caunhye.

You did only 278kmph in a GTR?? I did 295kmph in a K20A Honda civic without redlining the car.

You are comparing who's the fastest ? You are comparing the GTR with the Veyron whatever ? What's the purpose ? Stop trying to make yourself feel bigger with your oversized ego.
